Going to Church

December 26, 2010

As I prepare to go to church with my family today, I found this quote by Joseph Sobran to be especially poignant:

“It can be exalting to belong to a church that is five hundred years behind the times and sublimely indifferent to fashion; it is mortifying to belong to a church that is five minutes behind the times, huffing and puffing to catch up.”

good to see some posts from you. I was thinking for aw hile there you were posting less than me and I, uh, hardly post. Some churches are five minutes behind the times and think they are ahead of the curve. But a lot of both kinds of churches are part of the bride of Christ. :) This is actually an encouragement because if the Church is the Bride of Christ it means we look forward to a groom who is willing to marry a fixer-upper spouse.
