This is truly sad news. Pat was a lovely man who, amongst other things, put me on to The Brothers K by David James Duncan (he said it was the best book in his shop) and gave me the best deal ever on Barth’s Church Dogmatics ($300 flat for a brand new set!). I enjoyed laughing and bantering with him when I was living in Toronto and whenever I visited after moving away. God be with his loved ones.
This is shocking!
So sad, what a loss!
!! I just heard about this from Fulford. Was it expected or did it come out of nowhere?
Pat and I have been friends for 30 years and we will miss him greatly-our prayers go out to his family and friends-with love and tears Jonny
I just can’t believe this!! I used to be a frequent visitor of his little bookstore. Two years passed by after I left U of T. Now I got an email like this. Such a shock!
It was rather unexpected. Due to liver failure. He went into the hospital on Wednesday and passed away on Friday.
If you can, please come to the funeral at St. Mike’s and the celebration of his life at Wycliffe. His family needs all of our support.
I’m so shocked and very sorry to hear about this. Pat was such a good fellow and kindly friend to so many people through his shop and I appreciated his good nature so much.
I’ve asked some priest friends here in Rome to offer requiem Masses.
