Leithart and the New Atheists

I don’t know much about Leithart, other than that Keith thinks he’s pretty rad. Today I read something where he referenced a book by conservative Roman Catholic, George Weigel the new atheists are undermining the global fisticuffs on terror (or whatever it’s called these days). A sample:

“Weigel observes that it is ironic that the “new atheism” has emerged just when religion has become unavoidably dominant in world politics. Dawkins, Hitchens, and Harris would, Weigel suggests, deprive the West of necessary categories for engaging Islamic radicalism”

It’s interesting to me because in the case of both Hitchens and Harris, they seem to reserve their strongest condemnation for Muslims and the Islamic faith. I’m not sure what this all means, I just thought I ‘d point it out.
